Artemisia campestris L. var. douglasiana (Bess.) Boiv.

 

Plant Description:

  • Widespread prairie plant, is a sage, growing up to 80 cm
  • Upright stems with numerous ball-like flowers
  • Feathery, fine leaves at base
  • Occurs in disturbed sites and grasslands
  • Contains volatile oils; if a lot is eaten can be poisonous
  • Can be burned as incense or as an insect repellent, and is an alternative to mothballs
  • Found at Stops 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10
