Plains wormwood
Artemisia campestris L. var. douglasiana (Bess.) Boiv.
Plant Description:
- Widespread prairie plant, is a sage, growing up to 80 cm
- Upright stems with numerous ball-like flowers
- Feathery, fine leaves at base
- Occurs in disturbed sites and grasslands
- Contains volatile oils; if a lot is eaten can be poisonous
- Can be burned as incense or as an insect repellent, and is an alternative to mothballs
- Found at Stops 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10
