Pineappleweed
Matricaria matricarioides (Less.) Porter
Plant Description:
- Introduced, dry prairie, weedy species growing up to 40 cm tall
- Leaves are highly divided and look like feathers
- Many green-yellow flower heads at stem ends
- Gives off the smell of pineapple when flowers are pressed
- Pineappleweed Tea has a calming effect and treats sore throats
- Can be used as a deodorant and can be rubbed on hands after cleaning fish to remove smell
- Occurs everywhere - in disturbed sites, along roadsides, sidewalk cracks and is a weed in lawns
- Found at Stops 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, and 11
