Bastard toadflax
Comandra umbellata (L.) Nutt.

 

Plant Description:

  • Upright plant, growing up to 30 cm tall; usually found in large groups
  • Leaves sword-shaped without stalks
  • Flowers greenish-white to pinkish and small
  • Susceptible to attacks by an insect that causes galls
  • A semi-parasite: it can provide its own food but will also join to the roots of other plants, robbing them of water and nutrients
  • Found at Stops 1 and 2
