American vetch
Vicia americana Muhl.
Plant Description:
- Climbing plant with strongly veined leaves, growing up to 80 cm long
- Long, loose, bluish-purple flower clusters
- Prairie legume found around bluffs and in the shade
- This vetch is not poisonous, but use caution as many vetches produce hydrocyanic acid and can cause cyanide poisoning
- Found at Stops 1 and 2
