Wild red raspberry
Rubus idaeus L. var. aculeatissimus Regal + Tiling

 

Plant Description:

  • Prairie bush with a bristly stem, growing up to 2 m tall
  • Dark green leaves of 5 leaflets
  • Small white flowers produce a small, red and round fruit
  • Occurs in open-forest, areas of shade, and riverbanks
  • Berries used in jams, pies, and syrups
  • Wilted leaves are poisonous, but dried ones are not
  • Found at Stop 12
