White beardtongue
Penstemon albidus Nutt.

 

Plant Description:

  • Sturdy, upright plants with hairy stems, growing up to 30 cm tall
  • Occurs on dry prairies and slopes
  • Lower leaves are stalked; upper leaves are stalked and sword-shaped
  • Stems end in a spiked inflorescence of white, sticky and hairy flowers
  • Found at Stop 1 - on the Interpertive Nature Trail
