Scarlet mallow
Malvastrum coccineum (Pursh) Gray.

 

Plant Description:

  • Plant with a woody base, growing up to 20 cm tall
  • Widespread in disturbed and dry prairies; found in large clusters
  • Roughly rounded leaves of wedge-shaped leaflets, covered with white hairs
  • Distinct orange-red flowers
  • Found at Stops 1, 2, 5, 7, and 11
