Plant Description:

  • A very widespread tall bush; usually occurs in ravines and open woodlands
  • Leaves are small and round
  • Loose clusters of a few white flowers
  • Purple, fleshy berries
  • Berries used for pies, jams and syrups; dried berries used for pemmican
  • Wood used for making arrows, canes, digging sticks and spears
  • Found at Stop 1 - on the Interpretive Nature and Hiking Trails, and at Stops 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 11
