Amelanchier alnifolia Nutt.
Plant Description:
- A very widespread tall bush; usually occurs in ravines and open woodlands
- Leaves are small and round
- Loose clusters of a few white flowers
- Purple, fleshy berries
- Berries used for pies, jams and syrups; dried berries used for pemmican
- Wood used for making arrows, canes, digging sticks and spears
- Found at Stop 1 - on the Interpretive Nature and Hiking Trails, and at Stops 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 11
