Prickly rose
Rosa acicularis Lindl.
Plant Description:
- Short bush found in woodlands, in ditches and in ravines
- Stems growing over 1 m tall with weak spines
- Leaves consist of about 7 hairy, rounded leaflets
- Individual pink flowers
- The Provincial flower of Alberta
- Rose hips (the fruit) have a high concentration of vitamins A, B, C, E, & K.
- Petals can be consumed
- Found at Stop 1 - on the Interpretive Nature Trail, and Stops 6, 8, and 11
