Plant Description:

  • Short bush found in woodlands, in ditches and in ravines
  • Stems growing over 1 m tall with weak spines
  • Leaves consist of about 7 hairy, rounded leaflets
  • Individual pink flowers
  • The Provincial flower of Alberta
  • Rose hips (the fruit) have a high concentration of vitamins A, B, C, E, & K.
  • Petals can be consumed
  • Found at Stop 1 - on the Interpretive Nature Trail, and Stops 6, 8, and 11
