Prickly-pear
Opuntia polyacantha Haw.
Plant Description:
- Low-growing, large and flattened cacti that bear reddish scale leaves that fall off early; grow in large groups
- Scarlet mallow may grow nearby as both grow in overgrazed and disturbed sites
- Long spines with tufted bristles
- Noticeable yellow to pinky-orange flowers
- Found at Stop 2
