Ribes oxyacanthoides L. var. oxyacanthoides

 

Plant Description:

  • Short, spiny bush found in woodlands; growing up to 1 m high
  • White flowers
  • Fruit is a reddish-purple berry
  • Stem thorns were used as tattoo needles
  • Berries can be made into jams and pies
  • Found at Stop 1 - on the Interpretive Nature Trail
