Campanula rotundifolia L.

 

Plant Description:

  • Grows up to 50 cm high with many stems
  • Round basal leaves fall off early in season
  • Stem leaves are sword-shaped
  • 1 or more drooping, bell-shaped flowers
  • Found on dry slopes and open prairie
  • Natives chewed on the roots to relieve heart palpitations, and made into a tea to cure flu, fever and lung or heart problems
  • A very hardy plant
  • In Scotland,in the past, this plant was considered to be bad luck
  • Found at Stops 1, 2, and 9
