Thermopsis rhombifolia (Nutt.) Richardson

 

Plant Description:

  • A highly noticeable, prairie legume growing up to 50 cm high
  • Leaves in three's and are covered by soft gray hairs
  • Bright yellow flowers in loose spikes that bloom early in the season
  • Gives the milk an odd taste and smell if consumed by cows
  • Children can get very sick from eating the fruit
  • Found in ditches and on dry slopes
  • Found at Stop 2
