Plant Description:

  • Open-forest shrub growing up to 3 m high
  • Leaves broadly oval
  • Small nuts enclosed by united bracts with beaks
  • Shelled nuts are edible
  • Branches make good arrows
  • Rroots and inner bark can be used for making a blue dye
  • Found at Stop 1 - on the Intrepretive Nature Trail
