Slide 33:
The name "pseudoscorpion" means "false scorpion." These animals also have very well developed pedipalps equipped with pincers but they lack the scorpion's long abdomen and sting. They are tiny, with the larger species shown here being only about three millimeters long. We normally find pseudoscorpions in the forest leaf litter and under logs where they prey on mites and tiny insects. The chelicerae contain silk glands, and the pedipalps have poison glands.
