Slide 32:
In scorpions, the pedipalps are equipped with strong pincers, and the chelicerae are smaller. The scorpion's flexible abdomen is tipped with a poisonous barb. Scorpions emerge at night to hunt spiders, which they seize with their pedipalps, kill with the sting, and chew with the chelicerates.
In Saskatchewan, scorpions are very rare. This one was found in a crack in the bank of the South Saskatchewan River near Leader.
