We know the isopods as sowbugs. The group is characterized by being flattened, and having seven pairs of legs which are all similar in size and shape. Most isopods are marine, and a few live in fresh water. But the ones we usually see are terrestrial, living in damp locations beneath logs and stones, and in cellars. They eat fungi, and decaying organic matter.
