Slide 42:

The final group of chelicerae found in Saskatchewan includes a huge number of very tiny species. The mites are extremely small varied in appearance and habits. Some are plant eaters, some predators, some scavengers and others parasites. The velvet mite shown here is rather large for a mite, sometimes reaching a length of three millimeters. The adults live in moist places where they eat insect eggs. Larvae are parasites on insects.
