The jumping spiders are very active hunters, which like sunshine, and are active during the day. They have the ability to leap many times their own length - to cross a gap, or capture prey. Their eyesight may be the best in the invertebrate world. As the jumping spider travels, it releases a strand of silk which functions as a safety line if it leaps and misses its mark.
