|Discover how you can keep paper dry under water!
|Grade 2 - Air and Water
Lots of water
500 mL beaker
Large transparent container
|Fill the large, transparent container ¾ full of water. Crumple up some paper towel and push it into the bottom of the beaker. Invert and submerge the beaker into the container full of water. Keep the beaker underwater for a minute or so, and then slowly pull the beaker straight out of the water. Take the dry paper towel out of the beaker!
|When inverted, and submerged the beaker is full of air. This air keeps the water out, thus, keeping the paper towel dry.
