Calamogrutis canadensis (Michx.) Beauv.

 

Plant Description:

  • Wetland grass growing up to 150 cm high
  • Smooth sheaths with relaxed blades
  • Flowers droop and have fine, straight awns
  • Found in marshes, lake shores and moist areas
  • An important food for bison
  • Cree used this plant to make mattresses and to line winter storage pits
  • Found at Stops 3, 6, and 12
