Stachys palustris L. var. pilosa (Nutt.) Fern.

 

Plant Description:

  • Prairie, mint plant with a hairy, branching, square stem growing up to 80 cm tall
  • Hairy, opposite leaves with wide bottoms coming to a point at the tip
  • Pale purple flowers in a spike at the top of the plant
  • Plant occurs in wet areas such as sloughs or marshes
  • Roots are edible
  • Can be used to alleviate aching joints
  • Found at Stops 3 and 8
