Marsh hedge-nettle
Stachys palustris L. var. pilosa (Nutt.) Fern.
Plant Description:
- Prairie, mint plant with a hairy, branching, square stem growing up to 80 cm tall
- Hairy, opposite leaves with wide bottoms coming to a point at the tip
- Pale purple flowers in a spike at the top of the plant
- Plant occurs in wet areas such as sloughs or marshes
- Roots are edible
- Can be used to alleviate aching joints
- Found at Stops 3 and 8
