Plant Description:

  • Introduced weed growing as tall as 2 m
  • Large, heart-shaped leaves
  • Many purple flower heads
  • Bracts below flowers are green and have rigid hooks
  • Seeds are in burs, which easily grip onto clothes and passing animal fur for dispersal
  • Occurs in moist areas such as marshes
  • Found at Stops 3 and 12
