Blue lettuce
Lactuca pulchella (Pursh) DC.

 

Plant Description:

  • Widespread, prairie weed
  • Grows up to 1 m tall
  • Leaves are sword-shaped
  • Several small, blue flowers on a branching stem, the petals are reflexed back on top of a tube
  • Found on disturbed sites, along ditches and around some wetlands
  • Can cause skin irritation
  • Found at Stops 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9
