Helianthus laetiflorus Pers. var. subrhomboideus (Rydb.) Fern.

 

Plant Description:

  • Straight, reddish stem growing up to 1 m tall
  • Upper leaves are elongated and diamond-shaped, while lower leaves are spoon-shaped
  • Flowers found at top of stem with yellow ray florets and a purplish centre disc
  • Occurs on moist prairies and along roadsides
  • Found at Stop 8
