Beautiful sunflower
Helianthus laetiflorus Pers. var. subrhomboideus (Rydb.) Fern.
Plant Description:
- Straight, reddish stem growing up to 1 m tall
- Upper leaves are elongated and diamond-shaped, while lower leaves are spoon-shaped
- Flowers found at top of stem with yellow ray florets and a purplish centre disc
- Occurs on moist prairies and along roadsides
- Found at Stop 8
